Family medicine focuses on general health care for patients of all ages.

Our GPs are skilled in attending to Women’s health. Speak to your doctor to arrange cervical screenings, breast exams, and sexual health checks. Our doctors can also provide advice regarding contraception, pregnancy and fertility, and menopause/ menstruation, among others.

We offer comprehensive services for babies, children, and adolescents including (but not limited to) vaccinations, general and developmental health checks.

Our team of caring and experienced GPs can assist you with any sexual health concerns you have. From routine screenings to the management of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and reproductive health, including fertility and contraceptive options.

Cockburn Medical Centre cares for patients living with a wide range of mental health problems. Many of our GPs have additional training and experience in the management of mental health conditions, as well as counselling expertise. Our GPs can aid you with any concerns regarding back pain and care. Speak to your GP to organise any required referrals or treatment options. Dr Chris Chin offers low level laser therapy (laser acupuncture) to help relieve back pain and other chronic pain conditions.

Your GP is involved with early detection of heart problems and preventing heart disease where possible. They work closely with local cardiologists, nutritionists, exercise physiologists and physiotherapists to help you reach your health targets.

Our GPs are experienced with diabetes management. Your doctor may arrange specialised team care arrangements, and liaise with your other health providers, where appropriate, to help you manage your diabetes.

Our GPs work to support our patients through pregnancies and may liaise with specialists as required. We have a dedicated team of knowledgeable GPs who have additional experience to provide care for you and your baby throughout this very special time in your life.

Most skin cancers are treatable if caught early. Our dedicated GPs offer comprehensive skin checks and sun-safe advice. They have vast experience in the management of skin cancers and abnormal skin lesions/ moles via excisions and minor surgical procedures.

We offer a wide range of vaccinations including, but not limited to, routine child vaccines, covid-19, and influenza. All vaccinations are overseen by a GP.

Healthy feet are important for everyone. Foot care is especially important for people with specific conditions such as diabetes, and infants and children whose feet are still developing. Julian Symons is an experienced physiotherapist and helps patients with the management and, where possible, prevention of physical injury and disease. Speak to your GP for an EPC referral or call the practice to book in with him privately.

Dietitians provide information and advice about food and nutrition. They promote the wellbeing of people by helping them with their food-related concerns. Our dietitian, Kelly McKimm, sees patients with care plans as well as those who wish to see her privately.

We acknowledge and respect patients of diverse sexuality and gender identity. At Cockburn Medical Centre we strive to make everyone feel welcome and safe. We offer a range of services for LGBTQIA+ patients, including counselling, individualised sexual health services, and liaison with specialists as required.

Chronic diseases can affect many aspects of a patient’s life. Our CDM nurse Sarah Parekh works in tandem with all of our doctors to support patients in Chronic Disease Management.

Care plans provide an organised, structured and planned approach to the management and treatment of chronic diseases, complex medical needs and/or terminal illnesses. All of our doctors can provide care plans.

Your body needs iron to make haemoglobin (Hb) — a part of red blood cells that carries oxygen in the blood. This condition is called iron deficiency anaemia and can result in fatigue. Your doctor may recommend an iron infusion to treat this—a medical procedure where iron is given directly into your bloodstream through a vein.

Our GPs work with immunologists to arrange the treatment of allergies through allergen desensitisation (OR “a desensitisation service”). Allergen desensitisation relieves allergy-induced-distress by reducing the severity of symptoms.
